Bathroom remodel
Elm Grove, WI
Although a large bathroom, the existing placement of the shower, tub and toilet, made this bathroom feel small and cramped. The door swinging into the room added to the confined feel of this space. The issues that need to be addressed were: leaking glass block shower, a tub that was formerly resurfaced was peeling and cracking, along with mold that was growing in the corners of the room due to lack of ventilation.
Access to the tub was near impossible with the length of the tub abutting the shower. The only access into the tub was from the short end of the tub, making it very difficult and dangerous to enter and exit. Our homeowners wanted a functional bathroom with contemporary styling along with the use of unique materials, updated amenities and sufficient storage.
Our solutions:
We relocated the shower into the former toilet location and expanded the shower by taking some space from an adjacent closet. By creating a half wall from the vanity into the shower using a frameless glass panel, we eliminate the closed off feel and create an open, airy atmosphere.
Our new 6’ tub has taken the place of the old shower and tub, with plenty of room for safe access into the tub. Rich espresso cabinetry and wainscot paneling compliment the light colors of the tile. We solved the mold problem with efficient ventilation, which is vented to the exterior of the house. We selected 2” thick ivory concrete for our countertop and tub deck, which coordinates beautifully with the ivory tile on the floor and walls. Glass mosaic tiles fill the niches and backsplash on the vanity and add a splash of warm caramel and brown accent colors. Low voltage lighting highlights the niches at night for warm, ambient light.
We eliminated the confining feel in the bathroom by adding a pocket door and eliminating the swinging door into the room.
With a heated tile floor, heated towel warmer, multiple rain and shower heads, and an electric toilet, this spa-like bathroom is everything our homeowners wanted.
This bathroom now has everything our homeowners wanted, a functional bathroom with ample storage, a more open concept, modern amenities and a creative use of color and materials for a warm contemporary feel.

Bathroom Remodel
Brookfield, WI
This 1940’s bathroom was in need of an extensive renovation. The bathroom had no outlets, no exhaust fan, and the one light above the sink provided very little light. There was no storage space and bathing was very difficult with a 36”x36” pink bath tub. The heat register was placed behind the vanity, so no heat would circulate in the room, making the tile very cold in the winter.
Our homeowners were looking for a more contemporary feel to their bathroom and wanted to use unique materials that were earth-friendly. We completely gutted the bathroom down to the studs, and increased the 36” x 36” tub to a 36” x 72” tub with a built-in niche and ledge. A large closet with ample storage was added. We updated the electrical with 2 GFCI outlets, a recessed light along with 2 sconces, and a new exhaust fan. The flooring was changed to cork, a green material, which eliminates the cold tile floor in the winter. A contemporary-style, open-vanity was added to allow air flow from the heat register. The color palette consists of chocolate browns, white, olive green and burnt umber, for a warm, modern feel.
